March 3, 2003 | 12:00am
A Filipino software architect yesterday echoed a warning that any aggravated war in the Middle East can easily spread to other parts of the world including Asia that could gravely affect business in the region.
"This eventually is not far fetched although most of us are hoping that there will be no more hostilities but there is nothing like being prepared," Nilo Poso, CEO and chief software architect of Infostucture said.
He said one way of being ready in any kind of situation is for company owners or CEOs to upgrade their computers or software capabilities and they can practically go "hi-tech" with Infostructures new product that allows employees or CEOs to work or monitor business operations even without going to their offices "in case the need arises".
This software technology, called Infostructure .NJ is set to be launched and will soon be available and downloadable through the Internet.
Infostructure .NJ, according to Poso is based on J2EE which provides pure web automation of an enterprises business process and business operation using its off-the-shelf products such as Infostructure .NJ Portal which provides users with web access to enterprise content, data applications; infostructure .NJ Platform meanwhile makes Infostructure .NJ components run on any application server, any database and any operating system. Another is the Infostructure .NJ Pre-Built Solutions that enables companies to assemble their own infostructure system for any business process e.g. customer relationship management (CRM) or any business operation (e.g. retailing) and Infostructure .NJ Building Blocks that enable users to create custom e-forms, e-browsers, e-reports among others.
With Infostructure .NJ, companies can practically build their own infostructure system with minimal investment since it can be set up in an inexpensive network of Linux server and desktops using free software components downloaded from the Internet such as Jboss, an application server, and Postgress, a SQL database server. Moreover, for companies that want top of the line computing performance, they may set up Infostructure .NJ in Oracle9i platform using its application server, database and collaboration components.
Since Infostructure has started business in January 1992, it has successfully deployed its homegrown innovations to about 200 of the Philippines Top 1,000 corporations which include Del Monte Philippines, American Power Conversion, Unilab, SPI Technologies, Standard Chartered, among others. Among these solutions are BOS/e PeopleWARE 2003, the countrys leading HR software, BOS/e PayFast 2000, considered the fastest payroll system and iBOS/e WebShell.
