For the second year in a row, Globe Telecom was placed in the list of the leading companies in the Philippines and Asia in the Review 200: Asias Leading Companies annual survey of Far Eastern Economic Review, Asias premier business newsweekly.
In the Dec. 26, 2002-Jan. 2, 2003 issue of the Far Eastern Economic Review, Globe Telecom came up as the no. four leading company among the top 10 Philippine company leaders in the magazines ranking of Asias leading companies. Globe finds itself two notches higher in 2002 than in the magazines survey last year where the telecoms company, in its debut appearance among the Philippines best companies, was ranked no. 6.
With Jollibee Foods, Ayala Corp. and San Miguel Corp. occupying the first three positions in the survey, its fourth-place ranking makes Globe the number one Philippine telecommunications company. "Fast food, phones and beer led in the Philippines, suggesting that consumers are stepping up to help fill the void left by disappearing exports," the business publication said in explaining the prominence of the top placers in the survey.
Also, among the leading Philippine companies in the magazines survey, Globe ranked number three in terms of high quality services and products; number two in terms of being innovative in responding to customer needs; and number four in being a company that others try to emulate.
Globe is a full-service telecommunications company offering cellular mobile telephone system (CMTS), fixed telephone and international communications services, international private leased (IPL) lines, Internet access, VSAT (very small aperture terminal) service, inter-exchange carrier service, frame relay, value-added network services (VANS) and other domestic data communications services. It is owned by Ayala Corp., Singapore Telecom International and Deutsche Telekom.
