AIPM awards 14 new CFA charterholders

-
The Association of Investment Professionals Manila (AIPM), the local chapter of the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR), recently awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation to 14 finance and investment practitioners, requiring them to adhere to the AIMR Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct. The CFA program is a globally recognized standard for measuring competency and integrity among financial analysts. Lending his full support to the organization, BSP Governor Rafael Buenaventura congratulated the new batch of CFA charterholders and stressed that the increasing number of charterholders in the country will be a big contribution to the development of a corporate culture that puts a premium on fair play and ethical behavior. "Given the range and magnitude of corporate misdeeds we hear and read about from overseas, good corporate governance is what the world needs today. CFA charterholders definitely will play a key role in ensuring that the guiding principles of fairness, accountability and transparency will be adhered to," Buenaventura stressed.

With the new graduates, there will now be 56 CFA charterholders in the Philippines. First introduced in the country in 1996, the CFA Program requires candidates to build on a core body of knowledge of investment principles covering the areas of portfolio management, asset valuation, derivatives and quantitative analysis. To earn the right to use the CFA designation, candidates must master the program’s broad based self-study curriculum.

AIPM president Gina Oris, CFA and iayala director of investments, proudly handed out the Charter and swore in the new batch of CFA charterholders–Ildemarc Cruz Bautista, Juan Carlos Briones, Johnson Chua, Rewardee Fanega, Marshall Paulinos Filart, Michael Garcia, Kathy-Ann Javellana, Amora Manabat, Maria Victoria Mangonon, Ernesto Pinpin, Richard Tan, Fernando Tansingco, Anbelle Lynn Tiu and Gabrielle Quisumbing, all accomplished professionals in their respective institutions.

CFA exams are administered annually in over 70 nations worldwide. The program is open to anyone with a bachelor’s degree in any field and at least three years of work experience in the investment profession.

Scholarship grants are available to professionals, students, and members of the academe through the AIPM, the Asian Institute of Management and the De La Salle Graduate School of Business.
