Roxas kin seek perks for Cubao mall

The family of Trade Secretary Manuel Roxas II is seeking incentives from the Philippine Export Zone Authority (PEZA) for the development of Gateway Mall at the Araneta Center in Cubao.

Roxas’ mother, Judy, is an Araneta.

The Araneta group of companies is redeveloping its commercial property in Cubao at a cost of P2 billion.

The Gateway Mall will be a combination of food, retail, cineplex and IT office tower.

As part of the government’s effort to attract investors in the field of information technology, it had granted incentives to IT cyber parks such as Eastwood Cyber Park and the RCBC Plaza to name a few.

The Gateway Mall will have 100,000 square meters of gross floor area with five levels occupied by an estimated 170 food and retail stores.

It will also have a cineplex with 10 movie theaters with a centralized ticketing facility.

The next seven floors will be cyber-offices which will be equipped with advanced telecom facilities and broadband technology.

Locators to the cyber-offices would actually be the one entitled to the incentives and not the developer.

The Araneta group has drawn up a 20-year masterplan to redevelop their Cubao property into a prime business and retail complex that will rival Makati and Ortigas. Marianne Go
