BellTel inks agreement with Destiny to enhance service

Bell Telecommunication Philippines Inc. (BellTel) recently signed an agreement with Destiny Satellite Corp. to utilize the latter’s ISAT (international small aperture terminal) facilities to complement its existing satellite network, thus allowing the company to deliver enhanced satellite-based converged communications solutions nationwide.

According to Joby De Belen, BellTel vice-president for sales and marketing, the agreement with Destiny Satellite would allow BellTel to offer converged voice and data services to different establishments nationwide.

"Our current satellite facilities allow us to deliver data services to clients nationwide. Destiny Satellite’s satellite facilities, on the other hand, would allow us to deliver high-capacity voice services," De Belen said.

"With this partnership BellTel now has the capacity to provide converged high-bandwidth data services and high capacity voice services to different industries nationwide," he added.

BellTel targets its satellite-based broadband Internet and other data-centric services and digital telephone lines to companies in the tourism and manufacturing sectors.

"Those who would greatly benefit from these services are hotels and resorts with multiple line requirements, manufacturing plants located in economic processing zones as well as companies in the export-import industry," De Belen explained.

Government agencies in the countryside and in urban centers across the country can also benefit from these products.

De Belen said by providing enhanced, convergent satellite services to these organizations BellTel is able to take a significant step towards its vision of becoming the leading telecom company in the country in delivering state-of-the art converged communications solutions.
