A recent statement of Mr. Rene Concepcion, an incumbent board member of the Manila Polo Club (now embroiled in a bitter election fight) that the CCA Internationala group which maintains more than 40 clubs and bankers or executive businessmens clubs around the world was dubbed by CCA president Arturo Lopez "a blatant lie."
Responding to a claim by Concepcion ("Manila Polo Club Feud Still Unresolved"), Philippine STAR, Aug. 16, 2002, Lopez declared that contrary to the board members assertion, CCA had not submitted any management proposal to the present MPC board when earlier this year (2002) it had bid out the Food and Beverage Operation of the club.
Lopez pointed out that the CCA International is under an exclusive contract with the Tower Club, Metro Manilas most prestigious executive club today, and this contract absolutely prohibits CCA from managing any other club within the Makati area. "I dont understand why Rene Concepcion chose to drag CCA International into this controversy when we had nothing to do with it," Lopez stated.
"It is unfortunate that this fellow has tried to twist the facts," Lopez said. "I hope this was not part of a desperate attempt to hoodwink Polo Club members and garner some votes in the coming MPC election."
CCA International, he added, is weighing its legal options against Mr. Concepcion "and his cohorts" for involving CCA "without cause or reason in the contentious issue of the Polo Club elections."
