Bataan government cites BCDA development plan

-
The provincial government of Bataan led by Governor Leonardo Roman hailed the leadership of Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) president and CEO Rufo Colayco for his efforts to transform Bataan Technology Park (BTP) into a world-class eco-tourism and industrial complex.

Roman said that Colayco’s recent assumption has led to a clearer socio-economic agenda of the government that directly benefits the people. "This is evident in the all-out support that Colayco is set to extend to infrastructure and livelihood development," he added.

Roman said that BCDA, under the leadership of Colayco has assured the province that the "development and conversion of BTP will be a continuing and priority effort of the agency."

Colayco recently visited the area and was impressed by the vast potentials of the BTP Complex.

Roman disclosed that the BCDA has continuously initiated various infrastructure and livelihood programs set to benefit the residents of Morong and its neighboring municipalities in adherence to President Arroyo’s call to develop economic centers which generate jobs and livelihood in the countryside.

Roman said that the President’s choice has proved to be a sound decision. "We are now experiencing the benefits of Colayco’s vast exposure not only in public sector management but in international business as well," he added.

The Bataan Technology Park is a 380-hectare property which used to be the United-Nations managed Philippine Refugee Processing Center in Morong.

Plans are underway to convert the portion of the area into an Agri-Aqua Technology Park that is expected to complement President Arroyo’s agriculture modernization program.

Roman said that a 4.22-km SBMA-BTP Backdoor Road was constructed by the BCDA to enhance the accessibility of the Techno Park to and from the seaport and airport facilities of SBMA.

"With the able leadership of Rufo Colayco and the entire BCDA board members, I am certain that BTP will be developed as a major growth area in the region," Roman explained.

Local and foreign investors have signified their interests to put up businesses in the area.
