Defensor to induct CREBA officers today

Secretary Michael T. Defensor of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) will induct into office today the new board of directors and officers of the Chamber of Real Estate and Builder and Builders Associations or CREBA.
The induction ceremonies will be held during the associations monthly business meeting at the Inter-Continental Hotel in Makati City.
The new directors and officers are expected to carry on the task of protecting and promoting the interests of CREBAs members. CREBA is the countrys single biggest organization of real estate developers, brokers, appraisers, contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, engineers, architects and allied professionals and entities.
The new directors are lawyer Manuel M. Serrano (president, Remman Enterprises), chairman; Florentino S. Dulalia, Jr. (president, FS Dulalia Realty & Development Corp.), national president; Purita R. Soliven (VP & treasurer, VV Soliven Group of Companies), executive vice president; Orlando S. Bongat (president, Durawood Construction & Lumber Supply, Inc.), vice president for finance; Amado S. Bagatsing (president, Achievers Realty & Development Corp.), vice president for external affairs; Editha L. Manansala (president, Moldex Realty Marketing, Inc.), vice president for internal affairs; Avelina P. Acuna (president, Goldest Holdings, Inc.), vice president for chapter affairs; lawyer Luis B. Pangilinan, Jr. (VP-external relations, Fort Bonifacio Development Corp.), corporate secretary; Teresita C. Millan (president, Rosemill Realty & Development Corp.), treasurer; and Rosemarie C. Basa (president, PMGI), PRO.
The directors are: Anastacio C. Adriano, Jr. (VP, Brittany Corp.), Franklin G. Fuentebella (president, JLL Agricultural Dev. Corp), Florante C. Ofrecio (president, CITIMANOR Phils. Inc.), Ernesto C. Panis (past president, CREBA Baguio Benguet chapter), Demetrio L. Posadas (chairman, Fortune Star Construction & Dev. Corp. and president, CREBA Social Housing Foundation, Inc.), Pedro C. Tario (president, P.C. Tario Realty & Management Corp.), and Charlie V. Gorayeb (president, Concrete Ventures Group of Comp Inc.), CREBAs immediate past president.
HUDCC heads five government agencies working in partnership with CREBA towards the attainment of the governments national housing program. The other shelter agencies are: the Home Insurance Guaranty Corp. (HIGC), Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund), National Home Mortgage Finance Corp. (NHMFC), National Housing Authority (NHA), and the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB).
CREBAs board of directors is the associations highest policy-making body. They are elected yearly by members who are qualified to vote. The officers or members of the executive committee, on the other hand, take charge of administrative matters and ensure that policies are implemented effectively.
This year, the association aims to expand chapter memberships locally and internationally, and set up regional directors offices. It is also batting for the creation of the Department of Housing and Urban Development under the proposed Omnibus Housing and Urban Development Act now pending in Congress.
