PDIC schedules claims servicing for Unitrust

The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. (PDIC) will start servicing claims for insured deposits with the closed Unitrust Development Bank (UDB) on Friday Jan. 18, 2002.

Depositors are requested to file their claims at their respective branches Jan. 18, 2002, onwards, Monday to Friday, 8 am. to 5 p.m. Depositors are required to submit their evidences of deposits such as savings passbook or original certificates of time deposit and latest identification documents (IDs) with the depositor’s specimen signature.

In the course of claims processing, PDIC representatives may require additional documents from the claimants.

The Monetary Board of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas placed Unitrust Bank under receivership last Jan. 4 The PDIC took over as receiver of Unitrust in the afternoon of the same day.

The bank’s head office is in Makati while its 12 branches are located in Makati, Quezon City, Caloocan, Manila, Marikina, Parañaque and San Juan. Its total deposit liabilities is estimated at P290 million representing about 18,000 accounts.
