Shell RP has new country chairman

Oscar R. Reyes, country chairman of the Shell companies in the Philippines, announced today that effective Jan. 2, 2002, Eliseo B. Santiago will take over as country chairman. Reyes, who has served as Shell Phils. chairman and chief executive since May 1, 1997, will remain as director in the boards of the major Shell companies.
Concurrent with his role as country chairman, Santiago will continue as vice president for retail sales and operations for Shells oil products business in the east zone which include ASEAN countries, Hong Kong, Oman, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. He assumed this role early in the year and was previously based in Singapore.
As country chairman, Santiago will assume the positions of chairman and president of Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp., president of Shell Gas Eastern, Inc., president of Shell Gas Trading (Asia Pacific), Inc., president of Shell Chemicals Philippines, Inc., president of Shell Renewables Philippines Corp., president of The Shell Co. of the Philippines Limited, managing director of Shell Philippines Exploration B.V., and vice chairman of Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc.
Santiago joined the Shell Group in 1971 and has held various postings in the refining, supply planning and trading, marketing and general management areas of the business. He has been assigned to senior positions in the Philippines, Singapore, Caribbean, the United Kingdom and Thailand.
Santiago was formerly the country chairman of the Shell companies in Thailand, based in Bangkok, and concurrently as vice president for retail for the ASEAN countries plus Hong Kong. He is also the outgoing chairman of the Rayong Refining Co. in Thailand, and holds board directorships in various Shell companies in the region.
Born in Valenzuela, Metro Manila in June 1949, Santiago holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the Mapua Institute of Technology and a license in mechanical engineering. He is married with two daughters and a son.
