Gold Quill Awards launched tonight
October 16, 2001 | 12:00am
The Gold Quill Philippines Awards honoring the countrys top communications programs and the outstanding communicators behind them will be launched at 6 p.m. today, Oct. 16, by the International Association of Business Communicators, Philippines
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Rafael Buenaventura will give a talk on "The Role of Communicators in Managing Unexpected Economic Concerns," at the associations general membership meeting which follows the formal Gold Quill launch.
Buenaventura is expected to talk about the economic scenarios and strategies the country may consider in the context of the US counter-terrorist campaign.
"The Gold Quill Awards given out yearly by the US-based International Association of Business Communicators is the most prestigious recognition given to business communicators all over the world who enter the contest," said Roni Tapia-Merk, IABC Philippines president.
"What distinguishes these awards is that judging will be done by a panel of expert communicators and the entries are focused on the communication programs supporting a corporate, government or foundation project," she said.
Similar awards being given out by other organizations tend to gloss over the communication program and the corporate or public affairs projects themselves, and the public is at a loss on what is being evaluated, she added.
Details of the awards will be explained at todays launch. Interested parties, whether members of IABC or not, may call Kwini, Lester or Mae at tels. 8169116 or 8169439.
