Cathay Pacific offers flight paging service

Cathay Pacific now offers notiFLY Flight Paging via mobile phone SMS (short messaging service) and email in the Philippines, making it the first airline in the country to launch this type of service.

With notiFLY, local mobile phone and email subscribers can now have the latest Cathay Pacific flight information sent directly to either their email addresses or mobile phones. The SMS or text messages work on mobile phones even without WAP capability.

Registration is very fast and simple. By entering the flight details via the Cathay Pacific website – www.cathaypacific.com – users can request a notiFLY Flight Paging message to be sent in advance of a flight departure or arrival. A reminder will be sent to their mobile phone via SMS or email confirming the flight’s timing. It can also warn if the flight will be early or delayed by more than 30 minutes. With favorable tailwinds, longhaul flights can sometimes arrive well ahead of schedule, but using NotiFLY gives family and friends advance notice of when to be at the airport.

"After its very successful launch in Hong Kong, we are now delighted to offer this popular service in the Philippines," said Adrian Harley, country manager of Cathay Pacific. "I’m sure it will be a big hit here, considering that the Philippines is one of the world’s heaviest users of text messaging. Moreover, people on the move will really appreciate the benefit of greater accessibility to flight information."

NotiFLY is provided free of charge by Cathay Pacific and one does not even have to fly to enjoy this service. People who make use of the service include secretaries keeping track of sales team schedules, chauffeurs meeting their clients at airports, courier services awaiting urgent packages and "meeters and greeters" of all kinds collecting their loved ones, flying on Cathay Pacific.

Earlier, Cathay Pacific also announced the launch of the world’s first comprehensive on-line check-in service allowing passengers to check-in for flights via the internet before heading to the airport. The service gives passengers the confidence of knowing they have a confirmed seat 48 hours in advance.

and also saves them valuable time before departure. Other e-Business enhancements include inflight email and internet access.
