EEI Power Corp., the power unit of the industrial construction firm, signed the agreement with MAN B&W Holeby, a global engineering and energy corporation, last May and has designed and constructed a P4-million industrial facility in Calabarzon using MAN’s bunker-fired generating set.
The entry of MAN signals the fusion of local and international companies positioning for the expected surge in power-related projects in the country following the recent passage of the Power Reform Bill, which would break up the state’s control of power generation and distribution.
EEI Power is a provider of construction and operations and maintenance (O&M) services for power plants in the country. The agreement with MAN will enable it to offer engineering and O&M services to manufacturing companies requiring efficient and reliable electricity at rates lower than commercial power operators.
It currently operates the one-megawatt power plant of Creative Diecast Philippines Corp. (formerly Haneda), a Japanese-owned corporation engaged in the manufacturing and exports of electronics component for personal computers and gas meters.
The project, built using the MAN generating set, is under a 15-year build-operate-lease-transfer agreement with CDPC. – Conrado Diaz Jr.
