Globe Telecom has entered into a network service agreement with Singapore Telecom (SingTel) to address business communication needs of local customers by easily linking them up with their regional counterparts.
Under the arrangement, corporate clients of Globes data services (GlobeData) which require regional connectivity can use the ConnectPlus managed network solution of SingTel which is available in 12 other economies, namely Australia, Hong Kong, India, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand and Singapore. SingTel also has direct connections to the UK and the US via ConnectPlus.
ConnectPlus is designed to help multinational corporations stay competitive, productive and cost efficient through its one-stop shop concept for service ordering, billing, technical and sales support.
Jesus C. Romero, Globe assistant vice president for business communication, said Globes corporate clients can have access to the four services of ConnectPlus such as International Leased Circuit (ILC), Frame Relay, Internet Protocol (IP) and Corporate Voice. The services can support voice, fax and data applications.
At the same time, other ConnectPlus partners will be encouraged to tap Globes data network infrastructure when dealing with Philippine customers.
Before the agreement with ConnectPlus, Globe had to look for and talk to various foreign carriers to provide regional connectivity. This time, it only has to deal with SingTel.
Romero noted that as GlobeData corporate customers expand their operations overseas, they would need well-managed, reliable and cost efficient communications services.
"Our priority is to ensure that GlobeData services are available to our customers wherever they need them and with service support standards that they are used to," he explained.
On the other hand, SingTel executive vice president Lim Chuan Poh said: "These efforts are in line with SingTels strategy to be the carrier of choice for multinational customers who need regional support. Today, our customers have global connectivity through SingTels managed network services and partners. SingTels experienced account managers are well-versed with the local telecoms environment and serve as a single point of contact to provide essential end-to-end services reliably and efficiently."
Currently, SingTel has offices in key business cities in Asia Pacific including Sydney, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Mumbai, New Delhi, Jakarta, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Taipei, Bangkok, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh as well as in London, San Francisco and Westport (Connecticut).
Globe, which is jointly owned by Ayala Corp. and SingTels subsidiary Singapore Telecom International (STI), provides cellular mobile telephone system (CMTS), fixed telephone and international communications services, International Private Leased (IPL) lines, Internet access, VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) service, Inter-Exchange Carrier service, Frame Relay, Value-added Network Services (VANS) and other domestic data communications services.
