Napocor has new board

The National Power Corp. (Napocor) has a new board.
Energy Secretary Jose Isidro Camacho is Napocor chairman. The other members of the new board are Carlos Alindada, former chairman of Sycip Gorres Velayo; Ruben Almendras, executive vice-president of Cebu International Finance Corp.; Jose Cortez, president of Pacific Corp.; Wilfredo Cu former department manager of Transmission Co. (Transco) of Napocor; and Inocencio Ferrer Jr., a corporate lawyer.
Also in the board are Undersecretary Wilfrido Pollisco, representing the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and Vincent Perez, president of the National Development Co.
The old Napocor board was made up of former Energy Secretary Mario Tiaoqui, ex-president of Napocor Federico Puno; Antonio Carag, Gary Makasiar, Jesus Pineda Jr., Douglas Luym, Edward Larubis and representatives from DENR and DTI.
The new Board had its first meeting yesterday to discuss issues still confronting the debt-ridden power firm. These include how the Napocors strategic power utilities group (SPUG) will comply with the Clean Air ACt; electronic bidding process of all transactions of the power company; review of the independent power producers contracts; and awarding of the coal contracts.
