3 die in Cebu landslide

MANILA, Philippines — Three people including two minors died while another was injured in a landslide that buried two houses in Cebu City yesterday afternoon.
The fatalities were identified as Judith Bonghanoy, 60, and her grandchildren, Xian Kyrie, 5, and Kayden Avery, 6.
The children’s mother, Julie Pearl Andamon, 38, was rushed to a hospital for treatment of injuries.
Reports said it was raining hard when the incident occured in Sitio Riverside in Barangay Pulangbato.
City disaster officials said the body of Xian Kyrie was retrieved under the mud at around 1:45 p.m. while Julie Pearl was rescued at 2:26 p.m.
Kayden and Bonghanoy were retrieved at 4:24 and 5:43 p.m., respectively.
The city government ordered the forced evacuation of 35 families residing in the area to prevent casualties should another landslide occur.
