Kadiwa brings fresh produce, goods to Mandauehanons

CEBU, Philippines — Fresh fruits and other locally produced goods are available at the Kadiwa on Wheels (KOW) in front of Mandaue City Hall this weekend.

The two-day activity started Saturday, September 12, and will continue until noon Sunday, September 13.

The KOW opened at 6 a.m. Saturday and ran until 8 p.m. It resumed at 6 a.m. Sunday, giving Mandauehanons another opportunity to buy agricultural products brought in by local and regional producers.

Among the products being sold are durian, pomelo, bananas, guyabano, and mangosteen.

Processed products such as durian candies and kamote chips are also available, along with other local and regional goods.

The activity is being conducted through the Department of Agriculture Region VII and the Department of Agriculture-Davao Region (DA-11).

The Kadiwa program provides farmers and producers with additional venues to sell their products directly to consumers while making agricultural goods more accessible to buyers.

Mandaue previously hosted a KOW in February as part of the Department of Agriculture’s efforts to connect farmers and producers with consumers.

The latest KOW was discussed during a meeting between DA-11 and DA-7 officials and Mayor Thadeo Ouano on Friday, September 11.

Also present during the meeting were Councilor Eugene Andaya, Executive Secretary Atty. Riczen Gingoyon, City Agriculturist Pretty Sharon Mangadlao, and representatives of the DA’s Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD). — (FREEMAN)
