MANILA, Philippines -- It may have been a tough exit for Alex Eala at Wimbledon, but she will not be going home empty-handed.

Following a historic and majestic run at Wimbledon, Eala will be bringing home millions of pesos, as well as significant ranking points.

According to Wimbledon, those who reach the fourth round of competition will bring home £300,000, or P24.6 million.

Last month, the tournament announced that there will be a record prize money for this year’s Grand Slam tourney.

According to Wimbledon, the £64.2 million prize money fund is a 20% increase on 2025.

The champion of singles’ play will bring home £3.6 million, or P295.5 million.

Aside from the massive prize money, the WTA said that those who reach the fourth round will also gain 240 ranking points.

This pushes Eala to 28th, a new career-high, in the live WTA rankings.

Of course, the biggest prize of it all was her historic run.

Eala became the first Filipina to be seeded at Wimbledon.

She then became the first Filipina to win a match at Wimbledon in the Open era after beating Renata Zarazua.

And round after round, she made history after history.

After Zarazua, the 21-year-old defeated Maya Joint in the second round and World No. 3 Iga Swiatek in the third round.

And while a deeper run at Wimbledon will have to wait, Eala’s run is one for the books.
