Exciting aquathlon race set in Argao
CEBU Philippines — Everything is already in place for the Adlaw sa Kublan-Argao Aquathlon slated on September 20 in the municipality of Argao in southern Cebu.
Race director and head organizer Scyll Gabriel Basirgo said they are staging the event in partnership with SugbuTri and Argao Tourism Office to spice up the town’s annual fiesta celebration in honor of their beloved patron Saint Michael the Archangel.
“Our goal is to promote health and fitness, boost local tourism and economy, strengthen community engagement, support youth and grassroots sports development, and establish Argao as a major sports destination in the province,” said Basirgo.
The exciting two-in-one race features the novice aquathlon (250m swim and 1K run), short distance aquathlon ( 500m swim and 3K run), and long distance aquathlon (1500m swim and 5K run).
Some side events have also been lined up such as the novice open water swim (500m), short distance open water swim (1500m), long distance open water swim (3,000m), and the 5K Fun Run.
Aside from plaques, the overall champion in both male and female divisions of the long distance aquathlon will take home a cash prize of P10,000 while the second and third placers will pocket P8,000 and P5,000, respectively.
The top three finishers in the short distance aquathlon will receive P8,000, P5,000, and P3,000 while the Top 3 in novice aquathlon will claim P5,000, P3,000, and P1,500.
Basirgo said they are targeting over 200 participants spread in various age groups, from the 8 Under to 40-above.
