Beauty industry sees up to 10% growth in sales

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine beauty industry is expected to continue blooming, with sales projected to grow by nine to 10 percent this year, driven by the high value placed by Filipinos on their physical appearance.

Chamber of Cosmetics Industry of the Philippines Inc. president Janina Tan told reporters during the opening of Cosmobeaute Philippines 2026, that the industry’s retail sales value is projected to expand by up to 10 percent this year from last year’s P320.85 million.

She said that last year’s sales were exceptional, rising by 10.1 percent and outpacing the growth posted in other Asia-Pacific countries.

“This momentum of growth is expected to continue through 2026,” she said.

The growing demand for sun care products is expected to drive this year’s growth.

“Sun care is very in demand now because of everyone’s awareness (of its importance),” Tan said.

The country’s young population and e-commerce platforms are also helping drive sales for the industry.

While fuel and commodity prices have risen due to shocks linked to the Middle East conflict, demand for cosmetics and personal care products has been resilient, with online sales surging.

“They’re (consumers) not traveling because the gas is expensive. They have money to buy cosmetics. They have money to shop online,” Tan said.

Demand is also being driven by the importance placed by Filipinos on their looks.

“Filipinos really like to look good. Especially, the mass market, it’s still on the rise. The demand is still there,” Tan said.

While the entry of more foreign brands poses challenge to local brands, she said that social media platforms are helping them reach more consumers.

She said the group is also working with the Department of Trade and Industry to bring local products overseas.

This year’s Cosmobeaute being held at the World Trade Center, features 250 local and international exhibitors in the beauty industry. It is expected to attract 8,000 trade visitors and link beauty professionals, manufacturers, distributors and other industry stakeholders.
