Baldwin, Quimpo nagbitiw sa Ateneo
MANILA, Philippines — Nagbitiw na bilang head coach ng Ateno Blue Eagles si Tab Baldwin kasunod ng pagkamatay nina Rene Baterbonia at Divine Adili.
Kasabay nito, nag-resign din si team manager Epok Quimpo.
Mismong si Ateneo president Fr. Roberto Yap S.J. ang nagkumpirma sa isang press conference.
“I also must inform everyone that the university has accepted the resignation of head coach Thomas Anthony “Tab” Baldwin effective immediately. We thank him for the years of service for the Blue Eagles,” ani Yap.
Tinanggap ng unibersidad ang pagbibitiw ni Baldwin upang magkaroon ng bagong pamumuno sa basketball program nito kasama na ang pagbabago upang matiyak ang kaligtasan ng mga student-athletes.
“But as we enter a period of deep institutional review, a change in leadership is necessary to ensure the full integrity of our sports programs and safety protocols governing them,” ani Yap.
Sa panunungkulan ni Baldwin, nabigyan nito ng apat na korona ang Blue Eagles kabilang ang three-peat noong Season 80, 81 at 82.
Naging bahagi rin si Baldwin ng Gilas Pilipinas gayundin sa PBA kung saan naging consultant ito ng TNT.
Mayroon pa sana itong tatlong taon sa Ateneo matapos mag-renew ng kontrata noong nakaraang taon.
”We must look inward, examine our systems and rebuild the structures of our athletic programs so that our fields and playing courts will be places where dreams are nurtured not broken,” ayon pa kay Yap.
Wala pang linaw kung sino ang papalit sa puwesto ni Baldwin sa Blue Eagles.
