Bato dela Rosa surrenders 20 firearms in Davao
MANILA, Philippines — Fugitive lawmaker Sen. Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa has surrendered 20 of his registered firearms in Davao City, the Philippine National Police said Monday, June 15.
In a statement, the PNP said the firearms were turned over from a residence associated with Dela Rosa through his legal representative.
“The process was conducted in an orderly manner, ensuring that all procedures were properly observed and fully documented,” the PNP said.
The PNP said 20 firearms were accounted for, recorded and issued corresponding acknowledgment receipts before being transferred to the Regional Civil Security Unit 11 office at Camp Sgt. Quintin M. Merecido in Buhangin, Davao City.
On May 27, the PNP revoked the licenses of 117 firearms registered to Dela Rosa.
The order said Dela Rosa’s firearms license and registrations must be surrendered immediately under Section 4(g) of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
This came after the International Criminal Court sought Dela Rosa’s arrest over alleged crimes against humanity of murder in connection with the killings of at least 32 people allegedly committed between July 2016 and April 2018 under then-President Rodrigo Duterte’s drug war.
