PANOORIN: Lucas Bersamin hindi daw nag-resign

MANILA, Philippines — Former executive secretary Lucas Bersamin denied resigning from his post, contradicting the Palace announcement that he stepped down out of delicadeza.

The Presidential Communications Office had said on November 17 that Bersamin and former budget chief Amenah Pangandaman tendered their resignations amid corruption allegations tied to flood control funds.

Bersamin said the only letter he submitted was on November 18, acknowledging the president’s prerogative.

He confirmed receiving a call from a close friend urging him to leave the post, but maintained he did not formally resign. Bersamin also denied allegations linking him to alleged kickback schemes, saying the Office of the Executive Secretary had no role in budget insertions. — Base sa report ni Jean Manggaluz
