P500 milyon imported yosi nasabat sa BOC raid

MANILA, Philippines — Nasa P500 milyong halaga ng smuggled cigarettes ang nakumpiska ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Manila International Container Port (CIIS-MICP) ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) sa isinagawang raid sa mga bodega sa Bulacan kamakalawa.

Sa inspeksiyon, nadiskubre rin ng BOC ang may P5 bilyong halaga ng copyright infringing items, gaya ng devices, garments, at gadgets.

Nasa 19 bodega sa Green Miles Compound, Sitio Cabatuhan, Camalig, Meycauayan City, Bulacan ang sinalakay ng mga ahente ng CIIS-MICP.

Binigyang-diin naman ni BOC Commissioner Bien Rubio ang kahalagahan ng pagtiyak sa kaligtasan ng tobacco products na ipinagbibili sa domestic market, gayundin sa proteksiyon ng intellectual property rights (IPR).

“Our team found suspected smuggled cigarettes and counterfeit items, totaling to around P5.5 billion based on initial estimates. Smuggling in this magnitude is the work of big organizations because of the complexity of the process of storing, hiding, and trickling these to the markets,” ayon naman kay CIIS Director Verne Enciso.

Habang nakabinbin ang final inventory ng mga goods ng mga assigned BOC examiners, sinabi ni Intelligence Group Deputy Commissioner Juvymax Uy na ipinadlak muna nila at sinelyuhan ang bodega upang protektahan ang mga nakumpiskang items.

Ang consignors at consignees ng shipment ay maaaring maharap sa kaukulang mga kaso.
