MANILA, Philippines — Nanindigan kahapon ang Malacañang na sakop ng teritoryo ng Pilipinas ang Panatag Shoal at hindi ito kasama sa teritor­yo ng China.

Ginawa ni acting pre­sidential spokesperson Martin Andanar ang pahayag matapos maglabas ng statement si Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin na nagsasabing sa kanila ang nasabing teritoryo.

Ayon kay Andanar, pag-aari rin ng Pilipinas ang karagatan sa nasabing lugar at nakapaloob sa exclusive economic zone (EEZ) ng bansa.

“The Philippine position is we continue to exercise full sovereignty over Bajo de Masinloc and its territorial sea, as well as sovereign rights and jurisdiction over the surrounding EEZ and continental shelf,” ani Andanar.

Pinanindigan ng China na sila ang may karapatan sa Scarborough (Panatag) Shoal na kilala rin sa tawag na Bajo de Masinloc matapos iulat ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) na noong Marso 2, nagkaroon ng “close distance maneuvering” incident ang isang Chinese Coast Guard vessel na lumapit ng halos 21 yards sa BRP Malabrigo sa Panatag Shoal.

“Huangyan Dao is China’s inherent territory. China has sovereignty over Huangyan Dao and its adjacent waters as well as sovereign rights and jurisdiction over relevant waters,” sabi ni Wang sa isang press conference.

Una nang sinabi ni PCG Commandant Admiral Artemio Abu na ang insidente ang ikaapat nang pangyayari ng ‘close distance maneuvering’ ng barko ng Tsina sa kanilang mga barko sa Panatag Shoal.
