Face-to-face classes aprubado ng CHED sa 24 paaralan ngayong 2nd sem

MANILA, Philippines (Update 1, 3:34 p.m.) — Sa kabila ng patuloy na pagtaas ng mga kaso ng coronavirus disease sa Pilipinas, kinumpirma ng Commission on Higher Education na aprubado na ang pagbabalik na harapang mga klase sa ilang tertiary schools sa bansa.

Sinabi ng CHED sa isang pahayag na epektibo ang naturang school reopenings sa 24 kolehiyo at unibersidad pagpasok ng ikalawang semestre ng academic year 2020-2021.

"These HEIs have fully complied with the CHED-DOH guidelines and have been inspected by CHED and their LGUs so they can now bring their 3rd and 4th year students for hands-on training and laboratory classes in a limited face-to-face system," ani CHED chairperson Prospero de Vera III ngayong Biyernes.

"CHED will continue to monitor these HEIs and I am confident that they will provide safe and healthy spaces for their students in the coming months."

Prayoridad daw ngayon na magsagawa ng limitadong face-to-face classes ang ang ilang allied health-related degree programs gaya ng medicine, nursing, medical technology/medical laboratory science, physical therapy, midwifery at public health.

Ginagawa raw ito ngayon dahil sa dalawang mayor na kadahilanan:

• Para matiyak na na merong "key learning outcomes" ang mga estudyante pagdating sa specialized laboratory courses at hospital-based clinical clerkship/internship/practicum
• Makapagbigay ng dagdag manpower sa health system ng Pilipinas

Inilabas ng CHED ang naturang balita isang araw matapos maitala ang pinakamataas na COVID-19 increase sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas sa iisang araw lang, bagay na pumalo ng 8,773 sa iisang araw lang nitong Huwebes.

Mga kolehiyo bilang vaccination centers

Bukod pa riyan, nakipag-partner na rin daw ang anim na pamantasan sa kani-kanilang mga local government units para gawing bakunahan ang kani-kanilang erya para sa first wave ng COVID-19 immunization. Kasama riyan ang:

Aniya, gagamitin ang mga eskwelahang 'yan dahil "retrofitted" daw at "ligtas" ang mga naturang lugar.

“As the country looks forward to receiving the next batch of millions of donated and procured vaccines in the 2nd quarter of the year, we must maximize the use of large alternative venues to be readily available so that the priority groups (essential workers, seniors, the indigents) could be inoculated without further delay,” panapos ni De Vera.
