FDA: Reno liver spread, iba pang unregistered products 'huwag kainin'

MANILA, Philippines — Nagbabala ang Food and Drug Administration (FDA) tungkol sa pagbili at pagkain ng ilang 'di rehistradong pagkain at food supplements — kabilang diyan ang tanyag na palaman ng tinapay na kalahating siglo na tinatangkilikng mga Pinoy.

"The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns all healthcare professionals and the general public NOT TO PURCHASE AND CONSUME the following unregistered food products and food supplements," ayon sa advisory na isinapubliko ng FDA, Miyerkules.

"Since these unregistered food products and food supplements have not gone through evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot assure its quality and safety."

Kasama sa listahan, na inilabas ni FDA director general Rolando Enrique Domingo, ang sumusunod na mga pagkain at produkto sa mga hinaharang ngayon ng gobyerno:

• RENO BRAND Liver Spread
• MIRACLE WHITE Advance Whitening Capsules Food Supplement
• TURCUMIN 100% Natural & Standardized Turmeric Curcumin
• DESA Spanish Style Bangus in Corn Oil
• SAMANTHA'S DIPS AND SAUCE Spanish Sardines Paste Sauce

Dahil dito, walang Certificates of Product Registration (CPR) ang mga naturang produkto. 

Pagbabawalan na tuloy alinsunod sa Republic Act 9711 ang pagmamanupaktura, importasyon, exportasyon, pagbebenta, advertising atbp. ng mga nasabing produkto.

"All concerned establishments are warned not to distribute, advertise, or sell the said violative food products until CPR are issued," babala pa ng FDA. Haharap naman sa regulatory actions ang mga lalabag dito.

"All Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and Local Government Unit[s] (LGUs) are requested to ensure that these products are not sold or made available in the market or areas of jurisdiction."

Pagbabawalan na rin ng Bureau of Customs ang pagpasok sa bansa ng mga nasabing unregistered imported products.

Wala pa namang pahayag ang Reno hinggil sa nasabing prohibition ng pagbebenta ng kanilang produkto sa ngayon. — James Relativo
