JI leader, 9 BIFFs patay sa air strike

MANILA, Philippines - Isang dayuhang lider ng Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) at siyam pang miyembro ng Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) ang napatay sa inilunsad na air strike operations ng tropa ng militar sa Brgy. Tee at Brgy. Andavit sa Datu Salibo, Maguindanao.

Sinabi ni Capt. Ervin Encinas, spokesman ng Army’s 6th Infantry Division, nakatanggap ng impormasyon ang militar na kabilang sa mga nasawi ay isang lokal na bomber at isang dayuhang lider ng JI terrorist. Gayunman kasalukuyan pang kinukumpirma ang pagkakakilanlan sa mga ito.

Ang air strike operations ay nag-umpisa  nitong Marso 13 at 14 at nagpapatuloy hanggang sa kasalukuyan.

“The Command utilized all available air assets, artillery as well as armor assets in support of and in conjunction with the ground operations of the different field units of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Central,” sabi ni Encinas. 

Nakarekober ng limang Improvised Explosive Devices, apat na pressure type at isang command detonated na matagumpay na na-detonate ng Explosives and Ordnance Division (EOD) team.

Isang sundalo naman ang nasugatan.

Inihayag naman ni Army’s 6th Infantry Division Commander Brig. Gen. Arnel dela Vega na dumanas ng ma­tinding dagok ang BIFF sa nasabing opensiba na inilunsad ng AFP na layong lipulin ang nalalabi pang miyembro at mga lider ng BIFF.

“We are very determined to defeat the threat group(s) and thwart them from doing terroristic activities in Central Mindanao,” anang heneral.
