Fitness test ng AFP officers babawasan

MANILA, Philippines - Matapos na ilang opisyal ang masawi dahil sa hindi nakayanan na Physical Fitness Test, babawasan na ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang distansya ng ‘running’ ng mga sumasailalim sa PFT.

Sinabi ni AFP spokesman Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala na mula 3.2 kilometro ay gagawin na lamang 2km ang pagtakbo matapos matuklasan ng AFP Technical Working Group na 2 km lamang ang average na tinatakbo ng mga military officers sa anim na bansa sa Asya. 

“Our neighbors in Asia, physical fitness test average (in running) is just two kilometers...In fact even the United States Armed forces, the United States Air Force use the two-kilometer run,” paliwanag nito.

Aminado naman si Zagala na ang pagbabawas ng distansya sa pagjo-jogging ay bunsod ng pagkasawi ng ilang opisyal na inatake sa puso bunga ng sobrang pagod matapos mag-ehersisyo.

Sa Camp Aguinaldo pa lang ay tatlong opisyal ang hinimatay at namatay sa 3.2 km-run kabilang sina Marine Lt. Col. Leonard Vincent Teodoro (2010); Air Force Col. Richard Parcon (2012) at Navy Capt. Sylvan Jacaban noong 2013.
