Graduation speech ng solon binatikos

MANILA, Philippines - Inulan ng batikos ang speech ni Parañaque City Rep. Edwin Olivarez sa ginanap na graduation rites ng mga high school at grade school students ng lungsod kamakailan.

Kumalat sa mga networking site ng Facebook at sa blog na reynaelena.com ang paggamit ni Olivarez ng mga salitang hindi angkop para sa nasabing okasyon.

Ang graduation message ng kongresista ay nakalagay sa mga graduation ceremony program booklet sa Parañaque National High School, Parañaque National High School – La Huerta Annex, at Parañaque National High School Don Galo Annex, gayundin sa Paaralang Elementary ng Sto. Nino.

“Once again, the penultimate day of a momentous accomplishment is once more unfolding to all of you my Dear Graduates. Today you’ve reached the mark of realization of your dreams, motivated by the comfort and challenges in sustaining the years of education leading to the final episode of marching the hallmark on the stage bestowed by the token of Diploma, a concrete proof as Graduates. But looking back then, the day of our graduation is just a segment of the whole package of preparation. Certainly, the synergy of your educational investment is indeed significant because lacking on the outlay of preparation, it will therefore result to a vain prospect and wastage of time, energy and most importantly the crippling of our training for our young men and women to level up there concerns, destined to be our future leaders,” bahagi ng speech ni Olivarez.

Ayon sa mga komento, hindi angkop ang salitang “penultimate” na ginamit ng mambabatas sa unang bahagi ng kanyang mensahe dahil “ang graduation ay katapusan ng isang yugto lamang at simula ng panibagong yugto ng buhay ng mga mag-aaral.” Sa diksyunaryo, ang salitang penultimate ay nanga­ngahulugan ng pangalawa sa huli.

Hindi rin umano naiintindihan ng marami sa mga estudyante ang naturang salita, dahilan kung bakit marami sa mga estudyante ay hindi nakinig sa kanyang mensahe at mas ginusto pa ng mga ito na magtext at matulog.

Anila, mas maganda kung gumamit na lang ito ng simpleng English na naiintindihan ng mga estudyante.
