Comelec naghahanap ng hackers

MANILA, Philippines - Walang pangambang inihayag kahapon ni Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Sixto Brillantes na naghahanap sila ng mga computer hackers na maaring makapasok sa sistema ng automated elections.

Ginawa ni Brillantes ang pahayag matapos mag-meeting ang Joint Congressional Oversight Committee on Automated Election System.

“We are looking (for a computer hacker) pero wala pa kaming nakikita eh. Kasi wala naman makaka-hack ng system at this point in time,” pahayag ni  Brillantes.

Nauna rito, sinabi ni Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano, chairman ng oversight committee kay Brillantes na maglaan ng P5 milyon hanggang P10 milyon bilang reward sa sinumang hacker na makakapasok sa kanilang sistema.

Sinabi naman ni Brillantes na kung kayang i-hack ang kanilang sistema, dapat ay matagal na itong napasok ng mga hackers.

Ang automated election system ay unang ginamit sa halalan noong 2010.

Naniniwala naman si Cayetano na posibleng walang nagtatangka na i-hack ang system ng automated election dahil walang reward at posibleng natatakot din ang mga ito na habulin ng batas.

Samantala, sinabi ni Cayetano na dapat mu­ling magsagawa ng mock poll ang Comelec 45 araw bago ang aktuwal na halalan.
