PCGG tigil na sa paghabol ng yaman ng Marcoses

MANILA, Philippines - Naniniwala ang Ma­lacañang na kayang gampanan ng Department of Justice (DOJ)  ang iiwang trabaho ng Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) sa 30-taong paghahabol sa sinasabing ill-gotten wealth ng pamilya Marcos.

Magugunita na iniha­yag na ng PCGG na tatapusin na nito ang kanilang paghahabol sa natitirang $10 bilyon na ill-gotten wealth ng Marcoses.

Kabilang sa mga ibinigay na dahilan ni PCGG Chairman Andres Bautista ang pagbabalik sa kapangyarihan ng ilang miyembro ng pamiya Marcos at ang pagtitipid ng gobyerno sa pagtustos sa ginagawang paghahanap sa mga ill-gotten wealth.

“It has become a law of diminishing returns at this point. It’s been 26 years and people you are after are back in power. At some point, you just have to say, ‘We’ve done our best,’ and that’s that. It is really difficult. In order now to be able to get these monies back, you need to spend a lot,” wika ni Bautista.

Dahil dito kayat hinikayat ni Act Teacher party list Rep. Antonio Tinio si Pangulong Aquino na i-exercise ang kanyang political will at magkaroon ng commitment sa taong ba­yan para ipagpatuloy ang paghahanap sa yaman ng mga Marcos.
