13 ex-Pagcor officials, 14 pa kinasuhan sa DOJ sa P26.7-M ginastos sa 'Baler'

MANILA, Philippines -  Ipinagharap ng kasong malversation of public funds at paglabag sa Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act ang 13 ex-PAGCOR officials at 14 xxiba pa kaugnay ng umano’y paggasta ng pondo ng pamahalaan na may halagang P26.7 milyon para sa pelikulang “Baler” noong 2008.

Kinasuhan ng Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation sina ex-PAGCOR officials Efraim Genuino, Rafael “Butch” Francisco, ex-board members Manuel Roxas, Philip Lo, Gamaliel Cordoba, Jose Benedicto, Rene Figueroa, Edward “Dodie” King, Carlos Bautista, Jr., Esther Hernandez, Valente Custodio, Jesselyn Durante-Cuizon at Erwin Genuino, anak ni Ephraim Genuino.

Kinasuhan din sina BIDA Foundation officials Mario Cornista, Rodolfo Soriano, Sr., Emilio Marcelo, Philip Beltran, Luis Guerrero, Olive Soriano, Jesus Velmonte, Carol Matsuda at Josephine Sumangil-Evangelista na ngayon ay vice mayor ng Los Banos, Laguna; VIVA Communications, Inc. Vicente del Rosario, Jr., Marcia Gina Lopez, Hermie Go, Ma. Theresa Santiago at Tony Magtoto.

Nag-ugat ang kaso sa isang joint movie production ng “Baler” sa pagitan ng VIVA at BIDA Productions. Ang Baler ay isa sa official entries sa 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). Executive Producers ng pelikula sina del Rosario, Jr. para sa VIVA at Erwin Genuino para sa BIDA.

Sinasabing ang production cost ng Baler ay P40 milyon, ang P26.7 milyon dito ay mula sa Bida at ang 1/3 ng pondo ay mula sa Viva.

Ayon ka Atty. Jay Santiago, legal head department, walang supporting documents ang paggasta ng Pagcor para sa naturang pelikula matapos ang finding ng Commission on Audit (COA).
