Tiniyak ni Sen. Richard Gordon ang eleksyon sa Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) matapos siyang magtungo doon at nakipagdayalogo sa top leaders ng Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
Sa pulong, ipinaliwanag ni Gordon na tutol man ang Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) ay dapat nang maituloy ang eleksyon dahil ito ay usapin ng national interest. Binisita ni Gordon ang Camp Darapanan sa Sultan Kudarat, Sharif Kabunsuan nitong Sabado at naki pagkita kay MILF Vice Chairman for Political Affairs Ghadzali Jaafar, ilang miyembro ng MILF Central Committee, at mga lider ng non-government Muslim organizations.
“I came here to look you in the eye and tell you what the real situation is - that given that for a bill to become a law it still has to pass through the process of filing, sponsorship, debate and amendment, and given that no bill has been filed in the Senate up to this time, we have to be honest and straightforward with you in saying that it is going to be very difficult already to postpone the ARMM election,” sabi ni Gordon, chairman ng Senate Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms at principal author ng Automated Elections Law.
