Mausab ba ang kasaysayan?

Pag-assume sa Marcos Jr. administration, dihay mga huhongihong (sa ato pa, speculations lang) nga usbon o i-revise ang kasaysayan diha sa atong mga tunghaan, o sa education curriculum. Unsay nahitabo? Fake news, fake information. Nag-una ang kabalaka ug kay sa gikahadlokan nga mahitabo.

Headline sa The Philippine Star, nagkanayon: No Marcos order to revise history, says Angara.

“There was no order from President Marcos to revise history in the education curriculum, including the teaching of martial law in schools”, tubag ug katin-awan sa bag-ong education secretary, Sonny Angara.        

Kining pagkatudlo ni Angara, sa ato nang nasayran, walay misupak niini gikan sa kuban niya sa Kongreso (both houses), sa League of Provinces of the Philippines, ug sa ubang kadagkuan sa gobiyerno, ingonman gikan sa private sector, sama sa Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) “also expressed strong support for Angara’s push to further expand government assistance for poor students.”

On the other hand, mahitungod sa giingon nga order to revise history, what if there was such order, mosugot kaha si Angara? In the first place, mo-issue kaha si BBM sa maong order o instruction? I don’t think so.

Kon akoy pasuwaton niining bahina sa kasaysayan, isaysay usab nako ang mga maayong hitabo sa nasud, dili kay mo-concentrate lamang sa mga negatibong panghitabo. Pananglitan, niining panahona, wala kita ma-problema sa bugas, gani nag-export kita niini. Usa kini ka historical event, di ba? Nganong dili man nato pahibaw-on ang mga estudyante niini?

Unsa may instruction sa Presidente? Matud ni Angara, ang instruction ni PBBM mao nga himuon nga makalingaw ang pagtudlo sa kasaysayan, to be “more fun and conversational.”

Sa ato pa, maora og nag-istroya personal, face-to-face, dili gyud strictly subay sa libro (nga usahay biased), word for word, otherwise, ma-boring ang kasaysayan, inay ma-interesting ug enjoyable.

Dugang katin-awan ni Angara, nga wala kuno magtumbok ang Presidente sa usa ka particular nga bahin sa kasaysayan, ug sa pangutana kon i-“whitewash” (literally, hugasan) ba ang role sa ilang banay panahon sa martial law. Katin-awan: “He wants our children to learn history and be taught correctly (sa ato pa, dili pakapinan).

Usahay gud, ang kasaysayan, mag-agad man kinsay nagsulat niini. Kon highly prejudiced ug hubog sa negatibong panghunahuna bahin sa usaka event, mao usab kini ang mogawas sa kasaysayan nga iyang gisuwat.

“There is a need to improve the teaching of history to instill a sense of nationhood in the youth.

The President wants the teaching of history to be interesting and inspiring. History should be part of the youth’s national identity, and to improve the employability of senior high school graduates.” Tukma.

“The President vowed to improve the country’s dismal performance in the Program for International Student Assessment, which showed Filipino youths lagging in terms of reading, creative thinking, math and science,” dugang katin-awan ni Angara.

It seems nga maoy giikinahanglan karon ang total overhaul sa curriculum ug sa sistima mismo sa natad sa edukasyon, aron makatubag sa mga panginahanglan o needs of the time.
