3rd Rey Gealon chessfest set Dec. 21
CEBU, Philippines — For one last time this year, Cebu s top chess players will test each other s mettle in the 3rd Councilor Rey Gealon Chess Tournament slated on Saturday, December 21, at the Cebu Chess Club located at the 4th floor of Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
A total of P30,000 in cash prize will be given away to the winners of the 9-round Swiss system competition sponsored by Cebu City Councilor Atty. Rey Gealon in partnership with the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) headed by Engr. Jerry Maratas.
The champion will go home P7,000 richer, while the second to fifth placers will pocket P5,000, P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively. The sixth to 10th will each receive P700 while the 11th-15th will have P500 apiece.
The top collegiate, Cepcan A and B, lady, senior (60-above), high school (16 Under), elementary (12 Under), and boys and girls 10 Under will also get incentives.
Local ratings as of December 2024 will be used to seed the participants.
Registration fee is pegged at P250 but Cepcans, senior citizens, PWDs, ladies, and kids 12 years old and below will get a P100 discount.
