Pag-IBIG: Tell us if employers don’t remit contributions
CEBU, Philippines — The Home Development Mutual Fund, commonly known as PAG-IBIG Fund, encourages employees to report to their office if their employers are not remitting their contributions.
Pag-IBIG Fund Vice President for Member Services Operations in Visayas and Mindanao, Rio Teves said to report any discrepancies if deductions are made from their salaries but are not reflected in their Pag-IBIG accounts.
“If they see nga naay deduct sa ilaha unya wala gi-remit, please inform Pag-IBIG fund para among mabisita ang concerned employer and maka-assist mi on how to fast-track the remittance,” said Teves.
Teves acknowledged the fact that indeed some of the employers may be falling behind on employee contribution remittances, often due to financial setbacks affecting their businesses.
With this, they introduced “Penalty Condonation Program”, wherein both private and government sector employers settle their delayed payments without incurring additional penalties.
For employers settling their obligations, this program allows them to be free from any monthly penalty charges on delayed remittances.
To apply, employers must submit two copies of the Penalty Condonation application form, which is available in all Pag-IBIG Fund branches nationwide.
Afterward, employers can choose to either settle unpaid employer shares and withheld dividends in a single payment or opt for an installment plan, which allows them to pay unpaid dues over a maximum of two years with a 0.5% monthly interest rate.
Pag-IBIG encourages businesses to take advantage of this opportunity, not only to avoid penalties but also to support employees who rely on timely contributions for Pag-IBIG benefits.
Teves explained that they maintain an open communication with employers through a system they refer to as “positive billing”, in which employers are notified when they fall behind on contributions.
“Right now ang importante g’yud kaayo sa mga tabang sa employees themselves… Please help us monitor the regular payments of your employers,” Teves added. (CEBU NEWS)
