Birthday Feng Shui

As you grow, you become acculturated to appreciating your birthday as the most important day in your life. Whatever!

For better or for worse, the day you were born is the day you married life although most prefer to just to have it “live in” arrangement.

None the less, birthdays mean different things to different people. For a politician, it means destiny! For a mistress, it means more money. For you?

For me, birthday defines one’s feng shui in life and death. It is the take off point for the four- pillar analysis based on the four pillars of one’s life: month of birth, date of birth, year of birth and time of birth!

Such analysis in feng shui will reveal to you your Chinese Feng Shui element. Whether you were born a Wood, Earth, Water, Fire or Metal person based on the philosophy of the Five Elements that comprise the universe in the eastern worldview.

This element is where you will succeed in life, it defines the apt vocation or livelihood for you to pursue effortlessly in harmony with your human nature or personality.

Say, if you are born an earth person, you will thrive in anything related to earth. Be it trading, real estate development, farming or even selling memorial or burial plots like in memorial parks or cemeteries. Such element also tells you what or where you should not engage in because it opposes your element – or where you will be unlucky!

Take for example if you are earth, the element of water erodes earth so it is not good to go into fishponds, water business; but sure, you may drink water (in moderation too, not excess). This is where you hear of some Chinese saying they must avoid swimming, travelling by sea, or even having an aquarium at home or office since it will jinx their luck!

Last but not least, in birthday feng shui is the Curse of Nines! Nine or keng in feng shui represents completion of one life cycle as there are nine planets in cyclical feng shui astrological numerology. It signifies that after each 9 years, one can either move on to next level of living or... die!

So the threat of death (by any means: ill health, accident, whatever) is averted by feng shui followers by not celebrating birthdays where the age ends with the figure 9!

So if you are, say, 68, 38, 28 years old in Western age... or any Western birthday with an 8 ending figure... the remedy is not to celebrate your natal day that year or do one of two alternatives: double celebrate the preceding birthday in advance or post-date a double celebration the year after!

You may ask: Why is it the 8 in Western age is our example? Because in Chinese feng shui tradition and customs, at age zero in the womb, one is already considered 1 year old! So to get your real Chinese age or birthday number, always add one more year!

So if you are 18 in Western age, your Chinese age equivalent is 19! But remember this is not forever in pun! You are not 18 or 19 forever. As your parents will make fun too not 18 where in Tagalog ...”ay e-eighteendihin pa!” nor 19 “na nineteendihan na!”

Mind you, the curse of 9 is no laughing matter unless you want to die laughing! So be mindful of the figures of your birthday.  Happy Birthdays now and oops, forever!
