CIC makes 1st dividend remittance of P170 million

MANILA, Philippines — The Credit Information Corp. (CIC) made its first dividend remittance to the national government since its establishment in 2008, amounting to P169.64 million after posting record-high revenue last year, the Department of Finance (DOF) said.
The contribution followed its record-high revenue of P459.37 million in 2025, which was 91.6 percent higher than the P239.76 million in 2024, reflecting stronger financial and operational performance.
The government-owned and controlled corporation also produced more than 28 million credit reports and recorded 38 million credit report inquiries.
“Our 2025 performance demonstrates the transformative impact of a trusted and inclusive credit information system,” CIC president and CEO Ben Joshua Baltazar said.
“Through reliable credit information, we empower lenders to practice data-driven credit decisioning and accurate risk management, while enabling borrowers to gain access to greater financial opportunities. This creates benefits that ripple across the entire economy,” Baltazar said.
Established under Republic Act 9510, the CIC has the powers and functions to receive and consolidate basic credit data, to act as a central registry or central repository of credit information and to provide access to reliable, standardized information on borrowers’ credit history and financial condition.
“The DOF expects all GOCCs to effectively fulfill their mandates, deliver value to the public and contribute meaningfully to the country’s development,” Finance Undersecretary Ma. Angela Ignacio said.
“For CIC this means strengthening the credit information system to support more efficient and informed lending, broadening access to credit and contributing to the development of a stronger and more inclusive financial sector,” Ignacio added.
Under Republic Act 7656, or the Dividend Law, GOCCs are required to remit at least 50 percent of their net earnings from the preceding year as dividends to the national government.
