MANILA, Philippines —  Metro Pacific Health Corp. (MPH), the healthcare arm of conglomerate Metro Pacific Investments Corp., has sealed its expansion in Agusan del Sur with the completion of its acquisition of San Francisco Doctors Hospital.

MPH and its subsidiary Santos Clinic Inc. (SCI), owners and operators of Manuel J. Santos Hospital in Butuan, acquired a majority stake in the Agusan del Sur hospital.

The investment serves as MPH’s sixth hospital in Mindanao and the 25th facility in its growing network.

“Expanding our network through strategic investments like the one in San Francisco Doctors Hospital allows us to bring accessible and dependable healthcare to more communities,” MPH president Augie Palisoc Jr. said.

“We remain committed to delivering top-quality healthcare services and improving the overall health infrastructure across our archipelago,” he said.

San Francisco Doctors Hospital opened its doors in 2013. The 100-bed facility is expected to benefit from the operational efficiencies and synergies that MPH’s strategic investment will bring.

MPH said it intends to invest heavily in the development and management of San Francisco Doctors Hospital.

It aims to enhance the hospital’s capacity to meet the growing healthcare needs of Agusan del Sur and the surrounding communities.

The joint investment by MPH and SCI follows a proven strategy of enhancing healthcare delivery in the provinces by linking a larger, urban hospital with a smaller and strategically located facility.

Terence Vesagas, SCI CEO and the incoming president and CEO of San Francisco Doctors Hospital, said that they are poised to enhance services and bring better healthcare outcomes to patients with the support of MPH and SCI.

“Our focus has always been on creating a robust healthcare network that can deliver superior patient care across the country and in the localities that we serve. By integrating San Francisco Doctors Hospital into our network, we are expanding our reach and ensuring that the people of Agusan del Sur and nearby areas have access to the best healthcare services,” SCI president and MPH chief transformation and operations officer Oslec Lopez said.

From its first investment in Makati Medical Center in 2007, MPH has since grown to be the largest private hospital group in the country, now with 25 hospitals.

Its network also include Asian Hospital and Medical Center, Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Davao Doctors Hospital and Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod as well as 33 outpatient care centers, two allied health colleges and a centralized laboratory.

Under the leadership of its chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, MPH aims to improve the delivery of quality and affordable healthcare throughout the nation.

MPH is looking to acquire two more hospitals before the year ends in hopes of ending the year with a nationwide portfolio of 27 healthcare facilities as part of its continuing plan to bolster its network nationwide.
