Philvocs nakatala og unom ka volcanic earthquakes sa Kanlaon

CEBU, Philippines —  Nipahimangno karon ang Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) sa padayon nga kalihokan sa bulkang Kanlaon ug “swelling” sa ground surface niini.

Kagahapon niabiso ang Phivolcs sa publiko matud sa mga volcanologist nga nakatala sila og unom ka volcanic earthquakes sa Kanlaon sa Negros Island ug niabot usab ngadto sa 2,556 ka tonelada sa sulfur dioxide (SO2) ang nabuga niini niadtong Hulyo 13, 2024.

“Considering that volcanic earthquake activity and elevated volcanic SO2 emission persists, the latest changes in ground deformation parameters could further indicate that magmatic intrusion beneath the edifice may be taking place, warning of increased chances of eruptive activity taking place”, matud sa Phivolcs.

Ubos sa alert level 2 ang maong bulkan diin pasabot nga walay hunong ang kalihokan niini nga posibleng adunay pagbuto nga mahitabo.

Ang publiko hilabina sa mga anaa sa Negros giabisohan nga magbantay ug dili mosulod diha  sa upat ka kilometro nga Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) paglikay sa risgo.

“Communities living beside river systems on the southern and western slopes, especially those that have already experienced lahars and muddy stream flows, are advised to take precautionary measures when heavy rainfall over the volcano has been forecast or has begun”, dugang sa Phivolcs. (BANAT NEWS)
