Trainee soldier dies after collapsing in Cavite

MANILA, Philippines — A soldier died while undergoing training in Ternate, Cavite on Wednesday, police reported yesterday.

The trainee, Joel Jimena Jr., was going through his swimming lessons at the Marine Barracks Gregorio Kim in Barangay Sapang I when he collapsed at around 11:50 a.m.

Jimena was brought to the medical dispensary and later transferred to the San Lorenzo Ruiz Hospital in Naic, where he was declared dead by the attending physician the following day.

An investigation is being done to determine the cause of his death.
