Myanmar OFWs urged to explore franchising

MANILA, Philippines - Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Myanmar are encouraged to explore the franchising industry.

ASEAN Integration of the Philippine Franchise Association Chair and U-Franchise President Sam Christopher Lim discussed franchise opportunities at the Philippine Embassy in Yangon last November 27.

Sharing stories of some successful brands and trends in the industry, Lim described franchising as being "in a business for yourself but not by yourself.” 

Fruit Magic President Dr. Alan Escalona, Mr. Johnny Que of Waffle Time and Tysons Global Inc. President Rafael Hernandez also shared their experiences in building their own franchise.

Danny Dauba who is the president of Pilipin@s.MM, the only organization of Filipinos in Myanmar, noted the importance of taking care of hard-earned money, especially for OFWs.

“Kailangan mapag-isipan ng mga Pilipino kung ano ang gagawin sa kanilang kinikita sa ibang bansa. Mahalaga ang mga seminar na tulad nito para sa pagbibigay kaalaman sa mga Pilipino lalo na sa wastong pangangalaga ng pera," Dauba said.

The franchise seminar was a part of the financial literacy campaign of the Philippine Embassy in Yangon, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.
