The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Foreign Affairs and the Filipino community in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia helped send back home overseas Filipino worker Novelita Perez, who suffered a stroke which left her paralyzed and with hospital bills amounting to almost P2.4 million.

Perez, 45, was about to process her final exit from Saudi Arabia as a runaway household helper when she suffered from stroke. She was brought to the Jeddah National Hospital.

The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, with help from doctors Grace Gonzales and Alex Tan, helped for a reduction in Perez's bills. The consulate and the Filipino community also helped in securing her exit visa.
