Lapu-Lapu gives outP5K livelihood aid
CEBU, Philippines — The Lapu-Lapu City government released P695,000 from its local budget for livelihood assistance to 139 residents, with each beneficiary receiving P5,000.
The financial assistance was distributed by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) during an activity at the City Hall Atrium on Thursday, August 13.
The P695,000 allocation was divided among beneficiaries from various sectors who qualified under the city’s Livelihood Financial Assistance Program.
Of the 139 recipients, 54 were senior citizens, 30 were solo parents, 21 were LGBTQIA members, four were beneficiaries of the Aftercare Program, and 30 were indigents who applied through the walk-in process.
The city government said the P5,000 is intended to support income-generating activities and help recipients develop or sustain their livelihoods.
The assistance forms part of the city’s sustainable microenterprise development program, which provides financial support to qualified residents seeking to establish or strengthen small livelihood activities.
Mayor Ma. Cynthia King-Chan urged the beneficiaries to use the funds for livelihood activities that could generate income for their families.
The CSWDO, which also handles the application and evaluation process for the program, facilitated the distribution.
Applicants were required to submit a Certificate of Indigency and Barangay Residency, a voter’s verification certificate, and a government-issued identification card.
They must also accomplish an application form at the CSWDO Livelihood Unit and submit a project proposal as part of the requirements. (CEBU NEWS)
