CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — A bomb threat disrupted work and proceedings at the Bulacan Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Malolos on Monday, forcing workers and visitors to evacuate, police said yesterday.

Reports said the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office received the threat at around 10 a.m.

Responding members of the police Explosives and Ordnance Disposal Unit and K-9 teams searched the court premises, but did not find any explosive.

Court operations were allowed to resume after Malolos police chief Lt. Col. Rommel Geneblazo confirmed that the threat was a hoax.

The Malolos police is coordinating with cybercrime operatives to trace the source of the threat.

Elmo Mallorca, officer-in-charge of the Bulacan RTC security office, said the threat could have been made by a defendant who wanted to delay the hearing of his case.
