Yingluck sends first message to supporters after coup

The Philippine Star

BANGKOK (Xinhua) - Thai former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Sunday morning sent her message to supporters via Facebook to thank them for their support.

This was Yingluck's first message to the people after the coup on May 22.

"In the past week, many changes took place in our country. Many of you have expressed concern and asked what I have been doing. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your messages via Facebook and other channels," she wrote on her Facebook.

"I would like to thank you again for the support for me all along. I would also like to extend my moral support to all Thais," she wrote.

A picture of Yingluck and her son was posted with the message.

Yingluck is now in Bangkok, local media reported earlier, adding that she is allowed to travel anywhere in the country, but cannot leave Thailand, and has to inform the NCPO if going outside Bangkok.

Yingluck had been held in army custody after reporting to the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) on May 23 under the request of the military junta, but was confirmed released by the army on Monday.
