UAE warns citizens against travelling to Egypt

The Philippine Star

DUBAI (Xinhua) - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Ministry on Saturday called on its citizens to avoid unnecessary trips to Egypt due to its unstable political situation.

The warning was issued as Egypt witnesses protests launched by both supporters and opponents of President Mohamed Morsi, who will observe on Sunday his first anniversary as president but will face on the day massive demonstrations against him due to his poor performance since last June.

Diplomatic tensions between Abu Dhabi and Cairo have risen in the past six months since the UAE arrested dozens of its citizens, on whom it blames of conspiring with Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, from which Morsi hails, to create unrest in the Gulf state.
