WATCH: PNoy drives SUV at Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway opening
MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III on Friday took the steering wheel as he inaugurated the new Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX).
At the opening ceremonies of the P2.01-billion project, Aquino personally drove a white SUV through the MCX or the Daang Hari-South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) Link Road.
The MCX is a 4-kilometer, four-lane toll road stretching from the junction of Daang Reyna and Daang Hari in Las Piñas and Bacoor, Cavite to SLEX through the Susana Heights Interchange in Muntinlupa.
It will serve as an alternative route from Metro Manila to Cavite and vice versa, cutting travel time by an average of 45 minutes.
The first public-private partnership project forged under the Aquino administration, the MCX was awarded to Ayala Corp. in December 2011. - Louis Bacani
