Lester Alvarez hit a triple with 52 seconds remaining as Freego Jeans held off a late charge by Boracay Rum to fashion out a 58-48 decision.

Alvarez finished with 18 and his trey against Maclean Sabelina gave a Freego Jeans a 55-48, cushion and a share of the lead with Blackwater, Cebuana Lhuillier and Big Chill with 2-0 slates.

“We struggled down the stretch. But it’s still a good win for us,” said Freego Jeans coach Leo Austria.

Boracay Rum dropped to 1-2.
